Baghdatis' latest girlfriend

Apparently he is dating Karolina Šprem.

The Croatian singles player. Great surname.

Baghdatis beats David Ferrer

What a match. What an epic match!!! 2 sets to 0 down, never having beaten Ferrer before. What a game to turn around. Yet again Marcos makes the headlines (for the right reasons)!

He is the Australian Open.

I predict that the Hewitt match will be rostered for the Rod Laver arena. We beat him last week, we should beat him again. Just like at Wimbledon 2007. Take revenge for last year's loss.

Wednesday 20 January 2010

Baghdatis to meet Ferrer.

Paolo Lorenzi was no match for Marcos, who brushed him aside with a 6-2 6-4 6-4 win. Worryingly, David Ferrer (our next opponent) easily won his first game. He has beaten us twice in the past.

Match most likely to be played on Thursday. I wander which court we will be allocated.

Baghdatis wins Sydney 2010

First ever encounter vs Gasquet, won in straight sets (6-4,7-6)! What a comeback, after trailing 5-2!
A few Euros in the bank and 250 much appreciated ATP points. Not a bad way to start the year. Let's keep up the momentum Marcos.

Baghdatis spears a Fish!

Could we please meet Mardy Fish over and again? 3 for us in encounters to date. 0 for the Fish.

Final is vs Richard Gasquet. These two have yet to meet to date. For those who want to watch it, it is on (Greek) Eurosport 2. 10:30am (Athens Time)

Thursday 14 January 2010

Baghdatis beats Hewitt (again)

With this 2-1 win Marcos is through to the semis. Head to head, it is 2-1 to Marcos now.

Mardy Fish next. He's ranked below us (cough, i thought we had hit rock bottom gov?) plus he's felt the wrath of Marcos twice in the past. Marcos dismissed him last week in Brisbane, straight sets. The omens are good.

Marcos Baghdatis in Australia!

Marcos started the year in true fashion, crashing out of the Brisbane 250 with a rather embarrassing 6-0, 6-1 defeat to Thomas Berdych. However, he’s found time to occupy himself with Miss Universe (check out the photo!)
He’s past round 1 in the Sydney Medibank (ATP 250) tournament and he’s up against Lleyton Hewitt tomorrow, an old foe.

Is there a cunning plan? Will we bounce back? Is 2010 the year?
